As computers get bigger in memory, the software developers steal it away from you with more bloated programs. If you can possibly increase your RAM, that would be best. If using XP, try to reach 3 GB but beyond that it's not much help. I don't know about Vista. Linux can go up to 64GB in the 32 bit version.
